Lynx Rookie Olivia Miles Has Emotional Reaction to Parents' Surprise Visit

Minnesota Lynx rookie Olivia Miles was left in emotional tears after receiving a surprise visit from her parents on Monday. The 23-year-old had been unanimously named the 2026 WNBA Rookie of the Year. Despite likely expecting the honor, her parents' visit caught her off guard. Miles, who was also named an All-Star this season, was seen moving her glasses up to wipe away tears in a video clip of the surprise.

Her teammates joined in to celebrate the momentous occasion at a fancy restaurant. In the video, she was seen hugging her father who presented her with the award and later her mother who handed her flowers. Miles later delivered a speech thanking her head coach, Cheryl Reeve, and her teammates for her achievement. Miles, a No. 2 pick in the WNBA Draft, averaged 19.8 points, 6.0 assists, and 4.7 rebounds during the season, leading Minnesota to the league's best record.

The Lynx are currently competing in the WNBA Playoffs, having dropped Game 1 to the New York Liberty. To stay in the postseason, they will need to tie the series at 1-1 when they play Game 2 on Tuesday, Sept. 29.
