Lalbaugcha Raja Visarjan 2026: 192 Mobile Phones Stolen Amid Massive Crowd; 18 Thieves Held, Including Women & Minor

Mumbai: The Lalbaugcha Raja immersion procession drew large crowds, which unfortunately became a target for alleged thieves. Police have recorded over 192 cases of missing mobile phones and registered ten separate theft incidents during the event. The surge in theft prompted a prompt police crackdown on suspected gangs operating within the crowded procession route.

Among the 18 arrested, including women and a minor, police are probing the extent of the alleged theft network and seeking to identify other involved parties. So far, 14 mobile phones and seven gold chains have been recovered from the arrested suspects, representing about eight percent of the total stolen valuables reported. Police are using CCTV footage and cyber surveillance to track down remaining stolen items and suspects, while questioning is ongoing to gather more information for the ongoing investigation.
