Lahore to Get Rs. 8 Billion Pediatric Health Institute

The Punjab government has announced plans to construct a new 352-bed Maryam Nawaz Institute of Pediatric Health Sciences in Lahore. The revised project cost, encompassing the pediatric institute, has been estimated at over Rs. 17.76 billion. Currently, Rs. 2 billion has been allocated for the establishment of the Maryam Nawaz Institute of Paediatrics. This pediatric facility will provide complimentary medical education and healthcare services to children.

The project is part of a larger initiative to develop three prominent hospitals at Nawaz Sharif Medical City in LDA City, Lahore. The Punjab government has set aside 216 acres of land for the healthcare development. In addition to the pediatric institute, the project encompasses a 175-bed burn care and plastic surgery facility, as well as a trauma treatment center. The cost estimates for these two institutes are Rs. 8 billion and Rs. 6.15 billion, respectively.

Furthermore, the government plans to establish a third facility at the same site, the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Genetic Blood Diseases, with an estimated cost of Rs. 10 billion. The Infrastructure Development Authority Punjab has been designated to oversee the construction of the hospitals.
