Khan’s lawyers apply for postponement at Madlanga Commission

Advocate Ismail Vali, representing former Crime Intelligence Deputy Head Major-General Feroz Khan, has submitted a request to postpone the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry hearing. The lawyers argue that Khan should be permitted to testify virtually from a familiar setting to prevent any psychological triggers that could disrupt his testimony.

According to Vali, expert reports back up the need for Khan to have additional time to prepare for the proceedings. He suggests that a one-month delay could be appropriate, stating, "The midway point that he suggests is that there has to be a virtual arrangement for Khan to testify within a familiar environment so that there's no triggers, that he’s also identified that may cause Khan’s testimony to be interrupted."

Vali further explains that while Khan has provided the means for such an arrangement, the commission has yet to set a clear timeline for this approach. Another assessment by Dr. (Tando) Melapi further supports the request, taking into account the entirety of the evidence and the upcoming tasks for Khan.
