Jonathan, NBA President, Awomolo, SAN, Others, Celebrate Agabi at 80

On a recent occasion in Abuja, a gathering of distinguished individuals celebrated Chief Kanu Agabi, SAN, on his 80th birthday. Ex-President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, NBA President Mrs Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, Asiwaju Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN, and a host of Senior Advocates of Nigeria were among the notable attendees.

The celebration featured a public lecture delivered by renowned journalist and Editor-in-Chief of The Cable, Simon Kolawole, titled "Prioritising Ethical Conducts and Anti-Corruption Measures in Governance in Nigeria." The lecture focused on the importance of maintaining ethical standards and combating corruption within the Nigerian government.

In his tribute to Chief Kanu Agabi, SAN, Asiwaju Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN, acknowledged the immense honor of delivering the address while the honoree was still alive. He highlighted the significance of Agabi's role as a former two-time Honourable Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Awomolo, SAN, recounted their initial encounter with Agabi in the early 2000s, during debates on the power of the National Assembly to legislate on corruption and abuse of office. He commended Agabi's deep understanding of the Constitution and his ability to interpret it for the peace, order, and good governance of the Federation.
