Jewellery, sports science, sprint: Harita Bhadra adds Asiad medal to credentials

Harita Bhadra, an Indian sprinter, has added an Asian Games medal to her credentials after securing the bronze in the women's 200m race at the 2026 Asian Games. The 23-year-old from Mumbai finished just one-hundredth of a second ahead of Japanese sprinter Abigeirufuka Ido, who stood second after a photo finish. Competing in her breakthrough year, Harita's medal marks India's first sprinting podium finish in the women's 200m since Dutee Chand's silver in the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games.

Besides her sprinting prowess, Harita is a graduate in sports science from Loughborough University and runs a handmade jewellery brand called Daagina. Her coach, Rohit Mane, expressed that Harita's medal validates the plan they had prepared for her, anticipating her peak performance in September. The young athlete's dedication to both athletics and her jewellery brand exemplifies her multi-faceted career journey.
