Pugh questioned whether she was being censored for discussing rape and later, Meta confirmed that the label was initially placed due to the post's newsworthiness, but was later removed. The post remains visible but is considered age-restricted.

The lawsuit against Cornell has also reignited a criminal investigation, with the district attorney planning to present the case to a grand jury, though no criminal charges have been filed yet. Pugh's experience brings to light broader concerns about how social media platforms handle sensitive content, particularly when it involves women and marginalized communities.
