Hospitals in Visakhapatnam mark World Heart Day with focus on early detection

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) and Oxfam collaborated to organize a seminar in Ekon, a Cape Coast fishing community, to educate young people about contraception and reproductive health on World Contraception Day. The event, part of Oxfam's Power to Choose project, brought together young people, health professionals, and community leaders for accurate information on contraception, reproductive health, and making informed decisions.

Senior Midwife Anita Acquaah urged young people to avoid misconceptions and seek guidance from qualified professionals, demonstrating contraceptive methods and answering their questions. Edna Domenya, a Public Health Nurse, emphasized the importance of reliable information and encouraged participants to consult health professionals for concerns about reproductive health.

PPAG's Rejoice Kwawukumey highlighted the role of community education in dispelling misconceptions and empowering young people to make responsible choices. Queen Mother Nana Yaafua II urged traditional leaders, opinion leaders, and the local Assembly to actively support education and awareness programmes, stressing the need for a collaborative effort to guide young people and ensure their access to accurate information and support for informed decisions.
