HBM Nigeria Commences Female Tilers, Block-laying Training

HBM Nigeria Plc, a prominent player in the construction industry, has launched its 2026 Female Tilers and Block-Laying Training initiative. The program aims to provide 120 women from Lagos and Ogun States with essential construction skills, fostering their participation and economic growth in the sector.

Viola Graham-Douglas, the Director of Communications, Public Affairs, and Sustainable Development at HBM Nigeria Plc, emphasized the company's dedication to creating pathways for women to build sustainable livelihoods. This initiative addresses the gender gap in skilled construction trades by offering participants exposure to entrepreneurship, financial literacy, business registration, digital skills, and professional associations.

Graham-Douglas highlighted that the program goes beyond teaching women how to tile or lay blocks. It equips them with technical knowledge, business skills, and the confidence needed to build sustainable careers and actively participate in an industry where women remain underrepresented.
