Hasmah ceria sehari sebelum meninggal dunia, kata Mokhzani

Dr Hasmah Ali was found to be cheerful and sociable while receiving treatment at the National Heart Institute (IJN) late at night, prior to her sudden deteriorating health and passing away early the next morning, according to her son, Mokhzani Mahathir. "We're all surprised. We were together at the IJN the previous evening, and our beloved mother was so cheerful and kind.

However, something changed dramatically in the early hours of the following day, and her condition could not be restored," she expressed. Her other daughter, Mukhriz, stated that their mother experienced heart issues around 8 in the morning before doctors performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Nonetheless, she was pronounced dead around 9:30 am.

"The doctors at the IJN performed CPR on her, and she was subsequently transferred to the CCU. At precisely 9:30 am, she left us all," Mukhriz said after attending Hasmah's funeral at the National Peace Park in Putrajaya. He added that their late father, former Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, was also present at the IJN and remained by his wife's side until the end.

Mukhriz revealed that their father was deeply saddened by Hasmah's departure after they spent 75 years together. Mukhriz also noted that their mother's passing at the age of 100 left behind a significant legacy as a loving mother and a doctor to the nation. Born on July 12, 1926, Hasmah was one of the earliest Malaysian female doctors and made significant contributions to public health, including maternal and child health and rural women's development.
