Guru agama didakwa amang seksual pelajar lelaki

A female religious teacher appeared at the Ipoh Sessions Court today, facing three charges of sexual assault against a 16-year-old male student. The accused, who is also a mother of six children, pleaded not guilty after the charges were read out before Judge Ainul Shahrin Mohamad, according to Sinar Harian. The 48-year-old woman is alleged to have committed the acts in a classroom at a secondary school in Kinta region between November and December 2024.

The charges are based on Sections 14(a) and 14(b) of the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 2017, which can carry a prison sentence of up to 20 years and a fine. Nor Arfahanim Azureen Arfanuddin, her defense counsel, did not offer a guarantee of innocence due to the nature of the crime, while the accused was represented by Amira Sofea An-Nur Ahmad Basri.

Nor Arfahanim requested bail, citing the accused's marriage, six children aged between eight and 22, and being a single parent, while her husband lacks a stable income. The court also heard that the accused's son is still in school, while her husband has no guaranteed source of income. Bail was granted on a RM10,000 surety with one surety and a hearing date set for October 28 for a resumption of the case and filing of documents.
