Gov’t hands over site for construction of 160-bed Savannah Regional Hospital

The government has officially transferred the site for the construction of a 160-bed Savannah Regional Referral Hospital in Damongo, opening the door for development of the highly anticipated medical facility. This significant project is anticipated to bolster the region's ability to deliver specialized healthcare and enhance access to referral services for residents who would otherwise need to travel outside the area for advanced medical treatment.

The site handover to the construction contractor occurred on Friday, with the project being part of the government's broader strategy to enhance healthcare infrastructure in the Oti, Savannah, and Western North regions through the building of new 160-bed regional referral hospitals. These three hospitals are poised to offer extra capacity for specialized treatment and bolster referral systems across the regions.

Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, announced the development on his Facebook page on Sunday, September 27, stating that the government has formally turned over the Savannah project site to the contractor for construction.
