Gold Trader & Wife Attacked In West Bengal Robbery Bid, Police Investigate Firing

A gold trader and his wife were attacked in a robbery attempt in Dankuni, West Bengal on Sunday evening. According to the police, Partha Das, the gold trader, was returning home with his wife after closing his gold shop when five men on two motorcycles intercepted them in the Rail Gate area of Dankuni. The miscreants hit their motorcycle, causing the couple to fall from their bikes.

The attackers then stole a bag belonging to Das. When he and his wife raised an alarm, local residents came to their aid. The accused allegedly fired two shots at Das before fleeing on their motorcycles. However, neither the trader nor his wife sustained any injuries; one bullet hit a nearby wall. Police from Dankuni station have launched an investigation, reviewing CCTV footage to identify the suspects and determine the sequence of events.

Eyewitness Raju Mukherjee recounted that he heard screams and saw Das falling into a sewer with his bike after the attack. The miscreants reportedly took money and a mobile phone from the bag. Police speculate that the attackers may have been frightened by the presence of locals, who did not possess a significant amount of cash.
