GHS16.3b Domestic Cocoa Notes Programme to boost cocoa financing - Finance Ministry

TIOMAN, September 28 — The Ministry of Finance's Madani Adopted Village initiative is set to embark on a series of 26 infrastructure development projects and community programmes on Tioman Island, totalling RM3.54 million. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between urban and rural areas by enhancing local infrastructure and supporting tourism growth.

Finance Minister II, Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, emphasized the importance of local contractor involvement to foster economic opportunities in the region. The projects, scheduled to commence in October 2026 and conclude by March 31, 2027, will primarily benefit four villages: Kampung Tekek, Kampung Juara, Kampung Salang, and Kampung Genting.

Among the projects visited by Amir Hamzah during his working visit to Tioman Island, are the installation of a food supply cabin and public motorcycle parking facility at the passenger jetty in Kampung Tekek, as well as the installation of 10 solar lights at Kampung Juara Jetty. Other key projects include the construction of a new bridge in Kampung Salang and the improvement of the tourist-friendly landscape at the entrance of Kampung Genting.

Furthermore, the Madani Adopted Village initiative also includes community programmes such as folk sports events in each village, and a communal work effort to repair water supply pipes in Kampung Juara.
