GES disowns NCPTA deal with EduPack, says purchase of prospectus Ghana products not compulsory

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has distanced itself from a proposed collaboration between the National Council of Parent-Teacher Associations (NCPTA) and Prospectus Ghana Limited aimed at marketing and selling educational products in approximately 200 schools. In a statement released on September 21, 2026, GES underscored the need to safeguard parents and students from unauthorized financial commitments.

The organization emphasized that the NCPTA has not been authorized by GES to represent, address, or engage in commercial agreements regarding the public education system, schools, parents, or students. GES clarified that Parent-Teacher Associations operate solely within individual schools, collaborating directly with local authorities on matters pertaining to student development and school welfare.

The service affirmed that it recognizes no nationwide PTA framework authorized to issue directives, negotiate sales agreements, or represent all parents and schools under its jurisdiction. Regarding its partnership with Prospectus Ghana Limited, now trading as EduPack PGL, GES affirmed its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the company to introduce its educational offerings to schools.

However, GES made it clear that purchasing these products remains a voluntary decision and does not compel any external entity to impose them as essential school supplies. The organization reiterated its dedication to shielding learners and parents from unauthorized fees, obligatory product acquisitions, and unapproved charges, cautioning school authorities, parents, and vendors to adhere strictly to official directives.

GES pledged to maintain the integrity of the institution, enforce compliance across all public basic and senior high schools, and ensure that educational access remains transparent and free from unapproved levies.
