Foreign woman allegedly gang-raped records statement before Lahore magistrate

A 20-year-old Azeri woman, who visited Pakistan for business, recorded a statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure before a judicial magistrate at the Cantonment Courts in Lahore. She alleged she was gang-raped by three men in a rented flat near Raiwind on the night between Friday and Saturday. The incident marks the second such case involving a foreign woman in the Defence C police station area over the past four months.

The magistrate, Muhammad Sagheer, ordered the court to be cleared of unrelated individuals before the statement was recorded, which lasted over an hour. The Defence C police filed a case against three unidentified suspects based on the woman's complaint. Federal authorities were requested on Sunday to place the suspects' names on the Provisional National Identification List (PNIL) as they had fled Lahore after the assault.

One suspect's location was traced to Sialkot, and two close relatives and a domestic servant of one suspect were arrested. The vehicle used in the incident was also seized. The case is being investigated by the Crime Control Department, operations, and investigation wings, with DIG Operations Faisal Kamran leading the teams. In June, two other foreign women, from the Netherlands and Venezuela, were allegedly abducted and sexually assaulted in the same area, allegedly by five suspects, including a relative of a senior political figure, who demanded ransom and subjected them to sexual assault.
