FASTag Annual Pass hits 1 crore: Key details

On Monday, the government announced that the FASTag Annual Pass has surpassed the 1-crore mark since its inception in August 2025. This milestone signifies a significant increase in adoption among private vehicle owners utilizing national highways and expressways. The annual pass provides a convenient alternative for motorists who frequently travel on toll roads.

By enabling a one-time payment for toll access, the annual pass eliminates the need for motorists to constantly recharge their FASTags. Currently, the pass is operational at approximately 1,150 fee plazas situated along national highways and national expressways. It is exclusively available to non-commercial vehicles that possess a valid FASTag linked to the vehicle.

Under the scheme, eligible motorists pay a one-time fee of Rs 3,075, which can be utilized for either one year or 200 toll plaza crossings, whichever occurs first. This fare structure offers frequent highway users a predictable cost for toll payments over the applicable period. The FASTag Annual Pass is seamlessly activated on the existing FASTag linked to the vehicle after the user completes the one-time payment via the Rajmargyatra app. Therefore, no separate FASTag is required for the annual pass.

The government highlighted that the growing number of annual passes issued indicates the increasing acceptance of the scheme by private vehicle owners and its role in facilitating affordable and efficient travel on national highways and expressways. The scheme is particularly tailored for users who frequently traverse the covered highway network, replacing multiple recharge transactions with a single payment, thus providing a more structured toll-payment arrangement during the pass's validity period.
