Family to hold tahlil for Siti Hasmah tonight after Isyak prayers

Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali will be laid to rest tonight with full state honors following her death at the age of 100. Her son, Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir, announced that a tahlil ceremony will take place at their family home after isyak prayers. Additional prayers are expected over the coming days. The family expressed gratitude to those who paid their respects to the late Dr Siti Hasmah.

She was laid to rest with full state honors at the National Cemetery in Presint 20, Putrajaya. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had announced that she would receive a state funeral. Mukhriz Mahathir, Siti Hasmah's brother, had previously appealed for forgiveness for any wrongdoings committed by his mother during her lifetime and requested anyone with outstanding debts to come forward to settle them.

Known as a pioneering Malay woman doctor, Dr Siti Hasmah made significant contributions to public health, particularly in the areas of maternal and child health. She was Kedah's first female medical officer and served twice as the wife of the prime minister.
