Ex-Man City manager Roberto Mancini appears to acknowledge a ‘double contract’ with the club

Italian football manager Roberto Mancini, formerly of Manchester City, appeared to allude to a "double contract" during his tenure with the English club. The Premier League club faces potential financial penalties following allegations of non-compliance with financial regulations from 2009 to 2018. Mancini, who led City to their first Premier League title in 2011-12, stated on a recent news conference, "It's not a problem that concerns me."

The German publication Der Spiegel published evidence in 2018 suggesting that Mancini doubled his base salary of £1.45 million (now $1.9 million) for advising a club in Abu Dhabi. Mancini was dismissed from his role at City in 2013 after a defeat to Wigan in the FA Cup final. The club has consistently denied any wrongdoing and chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak reiterated this position in a letter to fans.
