EU Imposes Sanctions On 10 Russians And 17 Organizations For Deportation And Russification Of Ukrainian Children

On September 28, the European Union announced the imposition of sanctions against 10 Russians and 17 organizations, targeting those responsible for the illegal deportation and forced displacement of Ukrainian children to Russia and temporarily occupied territories. The targeted entities, including the Moscow City Tourism Committee and two Russian companies, are accused of organizing events promoting Russian history, commemoration, and military-patriotic education.

Children's camps and sports centers in Russia and Ukraine's temporarily occupied territories have also been added to the list for their role in cultural reorientation, propaganda, and military-patriotic activities. The EU's decision extends to the Songdowon International Children's Camp in North Korea for its involvement in programs aimed at relocating Ukrainian children to Russia and spreading pro-Russian narratives.

Notable individuals on the list include Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, and officials from the education and sports ministries in occupied territories and the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic. Sanctions include asset freezes and restrictions on financial transactions for targeted individuals and entities.

EU citizens and companies are barred from providing funds, financial assets, or economic resources to the sanctioned parties and banned from entering or transiting through the EU.
