Dubai-Sharjah traffic: Heavy delays reported on key routes

Dubai-Sharjah commuters encountered significant delays on major roads on Monday evening, as traffic congestion intensified around critical crossings and connecting routes between the two emirates. Live Google Maps data highlighted the Dubai-Sharjah corridor as a key area to monitor. Al Ittihad Road (E11), especially around Al Nahda, Sahara Centre and Al Qusais, remained a major pressure point.

Feeder roads near the Sharjah-Dubai border also witnessed growing traffic as vehicles merged onto the main highway. On the Sharjah side, motorists faced slower movement around Muwaileh Commercial, Industrial Area 15 and University City Road. Maliha Road experienced congestion near connections to E311, particularly near City Centre Al Zahia and Industrial Area 15.

A reported traffic incident and road closure warning near the University of Sharjah and Industrial Area 17 further contributed to delays towards Muwaileh. While traffic on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road (E311) in parts of Dubai remained comparatively smoother, slowdowns could still develop around major interchanges and feeder roads.

Emirates Road (E611) generally stayed clear, including through Al Khawaneej and Al Mizhar. For those traveling between Dubai and Sharjah, journey times fluctuated rapidly as evening traffic grew heavier. Motorists were advised to add extra time to their trips, maintain safe distances, and check live navigation updates before hitting the road.
