Derek Jeter’s rookie-year promise has grown into a 30-year legacy

One of Turn 2's key initiatives is the Turn 2 Us programme, which has touched the lives of over 30,000 students, school staff, and families in Northern Manhattan and surrounding areas. Initiated in 2001, the programme initially focused on elementary schools in Washington Heights, aiming to promote healthier habits and stronger support systems within schools.

By engaging students, families, and school staff, Turn 2 Us has created a network of support that reflects the foundation's original philosophy of prevention through providing alternatives, trusted adults, and opportunities for personal growth.

Jeter's decision to incorporate community work into his identity from the beginning of his career set a lasting precedent.
