Delhi’s parks after dark

Delhi's parks remain vulnerable after dark, despite increased security measures. At Delhi Development Authority park in Hauz Khas, three men scaled a closed gate and fled, evading the two guards stationed nearby. Park staffer Baljeet denied knowledge of the intruders, but guards expressed frustration with their limited resources.

The park has street lamps and increased patrolling, following a tragic incident last year where a boy was found hanging from a tree. Despite lighting, park visitors remain unsatisfied as there are no CCTV cameras. Maidangarhi Forest Park, illuminated after a similar incident, still lacks guards and cameras, leaving visitors feeling unsafe.

The road leading to the park entrance also witnesses incidents like phone snatching. Eidgah Hauz Rani Park, near Max Hospital, remains unguarded as minors engage in activities like smoking and playing PUBG, while CCTV cameras cover only the park's periphery. At North Campus, Bonta Park has seven gates locked by 7 pm, with a guard at each entrance; however, students occasionally breach the walls and remain late into the night.

The Astha Kunj park incident has prompted increased patrolling, but overall, the parks lack sufficient security at night.
