The prime minister, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighted the centenary as an opportunity to celebrate the remarkable life of a man whose legacy encompassed spiritual pursuits, cultural awakening, and decades of dedicated organizational work.

Born into a prosperous family, Ashok-ji's early years were spent in Prayagraj, where he developed a profound connection with India's cultural ethos and the people who traversed the banks of the sacred river, the Sangam. His passion for Bharat's revival and a nation of harmony led him to embrace the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), where he demonstrated exceptional organizational skills and an oratory talent that captivated audiences.

Throughout his life, Ashok-ji traveled extensively, often venturing into remote tribal regions, driven by a desire to address the needs of marginalized communities. He was particularly known for his compassion during natural disasters, such as the 2001 Kutch earthquake, where he frequently served as a guiding force for fellow karyakartas.
