Congress Protest Against SIR Of Voter List Continues In Bhopal, Police Use Water Cannons | VIDEO

Congress protesters in Bhopal continued their opposition to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list on Monday. Party workers marched to the Chief Electoral Officer's office, led by Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee president Jitu Patwari, to voice their concerns about the electoral roll verification process. The demonstration turned confrontational as police clashed with protesters, some of whom scaled barricades.

In response, the police deployed water cannons to disperse the crowd, restoring order. The protest followed a report by The Indian Express alleging that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had raised 14 objections in the past ten months regarding electoral roll decisions and the SIR process. The Election Commission maintained that its decisions were made unanimously.

Prior to the CEO office protest, Congress leaders gathered outside the PCC office in Bhopal, with senior figures attending to discuss their grievances about the SIR process and voter list verification.
