Cerebras will supply 100 megawatts worth of AI chips to cloud startup Gimlet Labs

Cerebras Systems announced on Monday that it will supply AI chips and hardware capable of consuming approximately 100 megawatts to cloud computing startup Gimlet Labs, according to both companies. This deal comes amid growing interest from AI firms in acquiring hardware that can perform speedy AI calculations, also known as inference, which is crucial for tasks such as cybersecurity, voice applications, and financial analysis.

Gimlet Labs CEO Zain Asgar highlighted the significance of this hardware, stating that Gimlet plans to target selling it to companies and startups building AI products. Gimlet Labs intends to employ Cerebras' CS-4 systems, unveiled earlier this summer, for running cutting-edge AI models that demand substantial computing power. Cerebras CEO Andrew Feldman revealed that the company intends to deliver its CS-4 hardware to Gimlet Labs over the course of one to two years, with the systems set to be available in Gimlet Labs' cloud by 2027.

The companies did not disclose the financial details of the partnership. Both Cerebras and Gimlet Labs declined to comment on the specifics of the agreement. Gimlet Labs will be responsible for maintaining and operating the hardware post-delivery by Cerebras. This collaboration echoes Cerebras' previous deal with OpenAI as well as Nvidia's licensing agreement with Groq for their respective chips and hardware.
