Bukit Aman completes statement-taking from former Negri exco members

More than 60 questions were directed at 10 former Negri Sembilan executive councilors during a statement-recording exercise conducted by Bukit Aman. The former state Industry, Technology, Innovation and Digital exco Datuk Mohd Asna Amin revealed that each exco member's statement was individually recorded over sessions lasting 30 to 35 minutes.

The questions primarily centered on the ongoing constitutional crisis. Bukit Aman officers, though numerous, were not intimidating, and all parties cooperated fully. The exercise could potentially involve additional officials. The Negri Sembilan State Constitution 1959 (UUTKNS) serves as the primary guide. Asna, who also serves as Lenggeng assemblyman, stated they answered based on their knowledge.

Bukit Aman has not specified the regulations under which the statements were recorded. The statements are thought to be connected to the political crisis following the revocation of the 10 exco members' appointments by Negri Sembilan's Yang di-Pertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz. The revocation transpired a week after the exco members published a joint statement purportedly confirming Tuanku Muhriz's removal as state ruler.

On Aug 7, the Negri Sembilan palace claimed the exco members had violated their oath of office and allegiance to the ruler. Yesterday, it was reported that the 10 former exco members, who continue to legally hold office, would have their statements recorded. The 10 individuals are Umno representatives, an MCA representative, a Pas representative, and a Wawasan representative.

Attorney-General Tan Sri Dusuki Mokhtar confirmed the validity of the revocation, which seven exco members are from Umno. Bukit Aman officers are expected to travel to Negri Sembilan to record the exco members' statements.
