Blue Pelican stun two-time champions in CSR upset

KUALA LUMPUR: In an unexpected turn of events during the 2026 Corporate Super Rugby (CSR) season, MBSA Blue Pelican defeated two-time champions Muamalat Bullets with a score of 27-14 in their Week 2 match at EV Arena Elmina. This victory marked Blue Pelican's perfect start to their debut season, while ATM Vanguard bounced back from their opening-round loss with a commanding 47-7 win against Ragbi PDRM.

Blue Pelican were missing key player Nazreen Fitri, who had been instrumental in their first win, but Nor Azmi Saruman stepped up as flyhalf to steer his team to another triumph. Nor Azmi scored a drop goal in the first half and was later awarded Player of the Match for his outstanding performance. Faizal Tahir added three penalty goals to the score.

Despite holding their own in the first half, Muamalat Bullets succumbed to Blue Pelican's stronger second-half display, marking the Bullets' first loss of the season after a dominant 10-0 opening victory over ATM Vanguard. ATM Vanguard, on the other hand, responded to their defeat by scoring five tries in the first half against Ragbi PDRM, securing a 47-7 victory that marked their first win of the season.

The Malaysian Armed Forces side also completed a first-ever win in the CSR competition. As the season progresses, MBSA Blue Pelican have emerged as the standout performers, while ATM Vanguard and Muamalat Bullets each boast one win and one loss.
