Asante Kotoko part ways with coach Eric Tinkler

Asante Kotoko has terminated the contract of head coach Eric Tinkler, effective immediately. The club's decision follows a 2-0 defeat to Aduana FC at Baba Yara Sports Stadium, marking their first loss of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season. In a statement dated September 28, the club's Board of Directors confirmed that Tinkler's departure was due to personal reasons.

Despite efforts to retain him, both parties ultimately agreed to his release. Tinkler, appointed in July, led the team in four matches this season, including a 2-2 draw with Debibi United and a 2-1 victory over Hearts of Lions. He also secured the Democracy Cup trophy after a win against Hearts of Oak at the beginning of the season.

The club expressed gratitude for his contributions during his brief tenure and reaffirmed its commitment to achieving sporting objectives. Under the leadership of Director of Football Stanley Purl Menzo, the team will continue their pursuit of goals as they prepare for their next match against Karela United on October 1.
