AJK PM to review Bhimber development

Muzaffarabad: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Iftikhar Gillani is set to embark on his inaugural official visit to Bhimber on Monday, with the primary objective of evaluating ongoing development and welfare projects in the region. The visit, organized at the behest of AJK Legislative Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Tariq Farooq, will involve a tour of the Daanish School and the Chinar Free Dialysis Centre, both under construction at the district headquarters hospital.

During the inspection, Gillani will be updated on the progress of the Daanish School, hailed as a state-of-the-art educational institution. At the hospital, he will delve into the current state of patient facilities and explore the healthcare needs and challenges faced by the district's residents.

Ahead of the visit, a preparatory meeting in Bhimber saw Deputy Commissioner Chaudhry Muhammad Tariq and other officials provide insights on security, traffic, and logistical arrangements. Speaker Farooq highlighted plans to rejuvenate Bhimber's development under the government's ambitious 100-day programme, targeting sectors such as education, healthcare, public welfare, infrastructure, tourism, and urban services.

Among the initiatives, Farooq mentioned the establishment of a Green Bus Service, the Suthra Kashmir initiative, upgrades to health facilities, construction of government offices, promotion of tourism, and improvements to the Baba Shadi Shaheed Road. Additionally, the Technical College in Bhimber will be fully operationalized to impart technical education and generate employment opportunities for the youth.

To tackle Bhimber city's traffic and transport woes, a multi-faceted approach is being contemplated, which includes relocating transport stands outside the city limits. Speaker Farooq has also penned a letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, seeking an alternate route for residents residing in proximity to the Daanish School, emphasizing the urgency of addressing their concerns.

Farooq asserted that despite stagnation in development initiatives over the past five years, the district's reconstruction efforts will commence from the point of interruption.
