AIKMS calls for united movement against corporatisation of agriculture

Vemulapalli Venkataramaiah, president of All India Kisan Mazdoor Sabha (AIKMS), has urged for a continued mass movement to tackle the challenges faced by farmers and agricultural laborers in the nation. At the opening of the fourth national conference of AIKMS, held in Khammam on Monday, he emphasized the necessity of uniting the struggle, similar to the farmers' movement that compelled the BJP-led Central government to repeal the three farm laws in 2021.

General secretary Ashish Mittal of AIKMS accused the BJP-led government at the federal level of prioritizing corporate interests over those of farmers and workers. He affirmed that AIKMS would persistently safeguard farmers' and agricultural laborers' interests and resist attempts to commercialize the agricultural sector. Various AIKMS leaders from across the country attended the conference.

Prior to the public meeting, a rally was organized in Khammam, which saw participation from farmers, agricultural laborers, tribal individuals from Agency areas, and cultural artists from Arunodaya cultural organization representing Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and other states.
