700,000 suffering under Bangkok floods

On September 28, the Malaysian Embassy in Bangkok took action to assist Malaysians and embassy personnel impacted by the severe flooding in the Thai capital. Ambassador Datuk Wan Zaidi Wan Abdullah personally announced the distribution of non-perishable dry food provisions to 10 individuals identified as being directly affected by the floods. These recipients included both locally hired embassy staff and Malaysian nationals residing in nearby regions.

Wan Zaidi explained that the timely distribution of the dry food supplies aimed to alleviate the hardships faced by those whose daily necessities had become scarce owing to the floods. By providing this emergency aid, the Malaysian Embassy demonstrated its concern for the well-being of its staff and the affected Malaysians. The distribution, led by Wan Zaidi as head of mission, was coordinated by Malaysian Defence Attaché Brig Gen Datuk Samsul Rizal Musa. The process took place from 10am until 7pm on Sunday.

However, the assistance from the embassy does not end with this one-time distribution. Datuk Wan Zaidi assured that the embassy would continue to keep a close eye on the flood situation in Bangkok and offer continued support to any Malaysians or embassy personnel impacted by the natural disaster. He also warned Malaysians in affected areas to remain vigilant as rain is expected to continue until September 30, as indicated in the official travel advisory issued by the embassy.
