2027: Atiku will not be absentee president if elected, ADC assures Nigerians

The African Democratic Congress has assured Nigerians that its presidential candidate, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, will not be an absentee president if elected in the 2027 election. ADC Director of Media and Publicity Kola Ologbondiyan made the assurance in Abuja, emphasizing that Atiku would be physically present and responsive during his term.

Ologbondiyan highlighted Atiku's understanding of Nigeria's economic and social challenges and his proposed policy interventions during the 2023 campaign. He recalled Atiku's advocacy for a phased approach to fuel subsidy withdrawal, which he believed should not impose undue pressure on the populace. Ologbondiyan also noted that Atiku's recent economic proposals aimed to alleviate the burden of rising energy and living costs.

He stressed the need for a presidency that is accessible, responsive, and capable of making timely decisions in Nigeria's best interest. Atiku's approach to governance would focus on addressing economic difficulties, improving citizens' welfare, and restoring confidence in public institutions. The ADC candidate's production-based intervention for petroleum products, which includes a fixed spending limit, a National Assembly approval process, and independent audits, has drawn criticism from the All Progressives Congress.

The Atiku Unity Movement, led by Francis Eburuwe, pledged its support for Atiku's campaign and pledged to mobilize Nigerians across the country for change.
