Uttar Pradesh: Yogi Govt Expands Child Support Beyond Reunion; 51,402 Helpline Cases Resolved In Seven Months

In a compassionate move by the Yogi Government, the focus on child support has extended beyond just reuniting children with their families. Recognizing that child recovery is only the beginning, the government has strengthened its child protection system, emphasizing counselling, protection, and rehabilitation tailored to the child’s needs. The Child Helpline 1098 has been instrumental in this expanded effort, providing assistance to distressed children and ensuring their safe return and subsequent care.

From January to August 2026, the helpline received 55,791 child-related cases, with 51,402 cases successfully resolved. Among these, approximately 19,811 cases involved missing children, of which 18,230 were resolved. Additionally, 8,714 cases related to found children were reported, resulting in 8,335 successful resolutions. The government's approach now encompasses more than just tracing children; it prioritizes creating a safe environment for them.

Child Helpline 1098 serves as a crucial platform for children to voice their concerns, with the government coordinating necessary actions through relevant departments and institutions. The State Government, led by Women Welfare Department Director C. Indumati, emphasizes the utmost importance of child safety and protection. Every piece of information related to missing children is treated with utmost seriousness and acted upon at the appropriate level.

Beyond tracing and safe return, the government places significant emphasis on family reunification, counselling, and rehabilitation as needed.
