US captain Brandt Snedeker criticizes his own performance at the Presidents Cup

Medinah, Illinois (AP) — Brandt Snedeker, captain of the U.S. team, is criticizing his own performance in the Presidents Cup. The American team defeated the International team 4½ to 3½, but trails by three points heading into the final session of 12 singles matches. Snedeker stated, "I hold myself to a high standard" and expressed that he feels he had not placed his team in comfortable situations.

He mentioned several possible reasons for his concerns, including matchups and other factors. Snedeker admitted that he second-guessed himself extensively, leading to his concern over the current situation. One of his questionable decisions involved resting world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler for an afternoon foursomes match. Scheffler, who played in all sessions during the 2024 Presidents Cup and 2025 Ryder Cup, faced Nico Echavarria in singles matches after being held out of foursomes.
