UMass takes on Eastern Michigan in MAC play

UMass and Eastern Michigan are set to clash in a MAC game on October 3rd at UMass. UMass currently holds a 4-0 record, while Eastern Michigan is 2-3. The Fighting Isacs begin the season strongly, defeating Sacramento State 35-6 on September 26th. Quarterback William Watson III was instrumental in that victory, throwing for 101 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 72 yards and two more touchdowns on seven carries.

Running back Elijah Faulkner contributed 227 rushing yards on 47 attempts. UMass' defense, however, is struggling, ranking 115th in third-down conversion at 33.3%.

Eastern Michigan, on the other hand, has some notable strengths. They rank 87th in defense, holding opponents to a 40% completion rate. Their turnover margin is even, compared to UMass' impressive +10 margin. UMass allows 68.5 penalty yards per game, while Eastern Michigan allows only 33.8. In the red zone, Eastern Michigan is particularly effective, scoring on 81.8% of trips, while UMass allows opponents to score in the red zone 72.7% of the time.

UMass' passing game will rely on Watson, who threw for 610 yards, six touchdowns, and one interception last week. He also added 72 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Rushing duties will be shouldered by Elijah Faulkner, who had 227 yards on 47 carries. Receiving duties will be divided between T.Y. Harding, who caught 221 yards on 13 catches, and Noah Kim, who added 968 passing yards and six touchdowns.

Eastern Michigan's offense is led by quarterback Kim, who threw for 257 yards and two touchdowns, while Amareon Blue added 243 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 49 attempts. Receiver Ben Prosper contributed 220 yards on 21 catches.
