Two students killed, six injured as truck crashes into Cairo metro station wall

Cairo: A truck collided with the outer wall of a metro station in Cairo, resulting in the deaths of two university students and six injuries to others, according to preliminary reports. The incident unfolded as the truck was navigating the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road en route to Al Remaya, when the driver lost control, leading the vehicle to strike the Grand Egyptian Museum station's perimeter wall near the main entrance on Cairo Metro Line 4.

Preliminary findings suggest the driver became distracted, causing the vehicle to swerve and crash into the station wall. The two students, who were in the rear cargo area, were ejected from the truck by the force of the impact and fell onto the metro station stairs, sustaining severe head injuries that proved fatal. Six additional individuals sustained various injuries and were transported to Al Haram Hospital for medical attention.

The collision inflicted damage to the station's exterior, with broken glass and partial deformation of the concrete perimeter wall. Authorities have impounded the truck for further examination while the bodies of the deceased students are taken to the morgue at Al Haram Hospital. Prosecutors have initiated an investigation to determine the incident's cause and identify any legal liabilities.
