Trump expects new Iran talks despite rejecting deal offer

He stated to the news outlet Axios that he anticipates negotiations to resume, but the deal he is open to is not the one Tehran is proposing, which he believes aligns with what they might have agreed upon a year ago.

Trump characterized Iran's approach as overplaying their hand in the interview, published on Sunday. Indirect talks between the U.S. and Iran might commence as early as Monday, according to sources familiar with the situation. Iran has maintained its stance on reopening the Strait of Hormuz, thereby keeping the Gulf front of the Middle East conflict in a stalemate, while hostilities persist in Yemen.
