Tom Banton's maiden century paves way for England ODI series win over Sri Lanka

Tom Banton achieved his maiden England century, contributing to a 223-run victory against Sri Lanka in the third ODI on Sunday at the Oval. His commanding 126 runs, made in 105 balls, formed the backbone of England's imposing total of 355-7. Banton's century was part of a third-wicket partnership of 150 runs with Harry Brook, who scored 77 runs.

The partnership saw Banton hit 16 fours and five sixes, including a magnificent 13-ball six off leg-spinner Sachindu Colombage. Brook's 77-run knock was crucial, coming after being dropped on seven. Sri Lanka struggled from the start, with Pathum Nissanka caught behind off Sonny Baker in the second over. England secured their record ODI win against Sri Lanka, surpassing their 128-run victory at Perth in 1999.

The win also marked England's fifth consecutive series win across all formats, following Brendon McCullum's tenure as limited-overs coach.
