Tinubu hale, hearty, says Presidency

President Bola Tinubu has been confirmed as "hale and hearty" by the Presidency, dispelling worries over his absence from Abuja and the United Nations General Assembly in New York. His Spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, stated on X that Tinubu is currently on his annual vacation but remains engaged in official duties. The Presidency argues that technological advances allow the President to carry out his responsibilities without being physically present in Abuja.

Tinubu has reportedly met with investors in France, demonstrating his continued work while away. The project of a $7 billion deep-sea port in Ogun State, facilitated by Tinubu, is also mentioned. The Presidency addresses criticism regarding Tinubu's absence from the UNGA by noting that other African leaders, including South Africa's Cyril Ramaphosa and Egypt's Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, were also absent.

Tinubu has announced his annual vacation and delegated Nigeria's representation to Vice President Kashim Shettima. Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party candidate Peter Obi is criticized for questioning Tinubu's whereabouts. Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria soon for the 66th Independence Anniversary and to attend a movie premiere in Lagos honoring the late MKO Abiola.
