Thunderstorms and flash floods expected across several Saudi regions today

The National Center for Meteorology is predicting heavy thunderstorms and flash floods across several Saudi regions on Saturday. The agency warned of moderate to heavy storms in Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, and Makkah on Saturday, September 27, 2026. These storms will bring hail, strong winds, and possible flash flooding. Light to moderate rainfall is expected in Madinah, with partly to mostly cloudy skies.

Scattered thunderstorms may occur in Hail, Qassim, and the Northern Borders area. Overnight and early morning fog is possible along Makkah's and Eastern Province's coastlines. Surface winds over the Red Sea will range from 20-45 km/h, shifting to 10-30 km/h, occasionally exceeding 50 km/h during storm activity. Wave heights will vary from half a meter to over two meters.

Sea conditions will be slight to moderate, potentially becoming rough with storm clouds. In the Arabian Gulf, surface winds will shift from northwesterly to southwesterly at 10-25 km/h, transitioning to southwesterly to southeasterly directions at similar speeds. Waves will range from half a meter to one meter, with slight sea conditions.
