Suvendu Adhikari urges people to fearlessly chant Bhagavad Gita, says insulting monks will invite jail

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari urged citizens to fearlessly chant the Bhagavad Gita and warned that anyone who insults monks would face imprisonment. Speaking at a Bhagavad Gita recital event at the Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata, the CM highlighted the changing winds in the state, emphasizing that the government would protect 'gaumata.'

Referring to the Bageshwar Baba controversy, Adhikari stated that the Constitution drafted by Babasaheb Ambedkar guides the country, and individuals can choose to accept or reject it. He recalled how the Communists and Mamata's followers burned and insulted Dhirendra Shastri's effigy, to which he vowed to arrest the individual responsible for burning the picture on the very night.

Encouraging people to recite and distribute the Bhagavad Gita, Hanuman Chalisa, and chant the Hare Krishna mantra, Adhikari stated there was nothing to be scared of. He declared the government of tika, sikha, dhoti, and tulsi as the protector of 'gaumata.' The chief minister also pledged to imprison those who insult monks, referring to the previous Mamata government in a derogatory manner.

Addressing concerns about the Tukde Tukde gang, Adhikari called for vigilance against those demanding freedom for Kashmir. He also mentioned spiritual leader Jagadguru Rambhadracharya's expressed interest in visiting Bengal for a religious congregation during Makar Sankranti and the state government's plans to have a pavilion at the Gita Mahotsav in Kurukshetra.
