Smoke in the cabin: US-bound Delta jet makes emergency landing in Portugal

A Delta Air Lines aircraft made an emergency landing at Porto airport in Portugal on Sunday, following the detection of smoke in the cabin, according to the civil protection service. The aircraft, en route from Barcelona to Boston in the United States, was carrying 296 passengers and four crew members. Media reports suggested the jet was diverted due to the smoke incident.

Upon landing safely at the northern Portuguese airport, 14 passengers required assistance, with 4 of them taken to hospital for smoke inhalation, though their injuries were described as only lightly affecting them. The civil protection service stated that the cause of the incident had not yet been determined.
