Security guard killed during suspected robbery attempt in Kakamega

In Kakamega town, a security guard named Boniface Kweyu, 37, met a gruesome end early Saturday morning. Authorities suspect the incident was an attempted robbery. The victim worked for Demo Security Company and was on night duty alone at Mahadev Drappers Limited's parking yard. Police discovered Kweyu's body at around 9am after someone arrived at the premises and found him lifeless.

The guard's body was lying prone with multiple deep cuts, which investigators believe were inflicted using a sharp object. Kweyu's hands and legs were reportedly tied with a rope. Police found evidence that the suspected intruders broke through the metal bars on the perimeter fence and attempted to drill a hole through a wall of Mahadev Drappers Limited, as well as break the door of a store within the compound.

However, they were unsuccessful in gaining access to the store. Crime Scene Investigators documented the scene and the body was transported to Kakamega County Referral Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination. Police have initiated an investigation to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible for the guard's murder and the attempted break-in.

Meanwhile, in Molo, Nakuru County, a 36-year-old man named Gideon Wamute Wambugu was found dead in his rented house after going missing for two days. Wambugu's family alerted authorities as he had not been seen for two days. His house was locked from the inside, prompting police to break a window and find Wambugu unresponsive on a seat.

Police determined that Wambugu may have died while asleep and noted that he had a history of epilepsy. The house was processed and documented, and the body was transferred to Molo Sub-County Hospital mortuary awaiting an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
