Salobreña Romería puts horses centre stage

Horse enthusiasts in the Spanish town of Salobreña have a reason to celebrate with the annual Romería del Sur on October 4. Held during the town's Fiestas Patronales, the event honors Nuestra Señora del Rosario and brings together riders, horses, carriages and the religious procession. Riders can register at Salobreña Town Hall by September 30, filling out the form, providing documentation, insurance, and proof of ownership.

Children under 18 must have a parent or guardian's DNI. Facilities for horses will be provided, but they cannot enter the beach areas. After Mass, riders must follow the authorized route along the seafront when accompanied by the Local Police. Salobreña encourages participation, highlighting the Romería as an integral part of the town's traditions and offering riders a central role in the festivities.
