QSCCB organises meeting on media impact on lives of blind community

The Qatar Social and Cultural Center for the Blind (QSCCB) recently hosted a meeting in collaboration with the Da'wa and Religious Guidance Department of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs. The purpose of the gathering was to explore the influence of media on the lives of the blind.

Several key topics were addressed during the event, including media skills, the professional journey of Supervisor of Qatar Holy Qur'an Radio, Abdullah al-Buainain, and the challenges he faced in the industry. Al-Buainain highlighted that media proficiency requires a blend of training, practice, and continuous skill enhancement, rather than being solely based on innate talent.

He emphasized the importance of various competencies for media professionals, such as reading, self-education, text comprehension, and subject-matter expertise. Additionally, Al-Buainain stressed the significance of adhering to values, principles, integrity, credibility, and professionalism in the media field. He also advised media professionals to verify information and its sources before publishing or disseminating it, and to consider the potential impact and utility of the information prior to its release.

The meeting concluded with Al-Buainain providing attendees with insights into the equipment and technologies used in the radio studio, as well as the process of preparing, coordinating, and compiling media content. He also introduced aspects of radio hosting and the nature of work within the media industry.
