Qatar Social, Cultural Center for Blind organizes meeting on media impact on lives of blind community

The Qatar Social and Cultural Center for the Blind (QSCCB) held a gathering in collaboration with the unit that monitors programs for people with disabilities at the Da'wah and Religious Guidance Department of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs. The discussion focused on media's influence on the lives of blind individuals.

Various subjects related to media skills were covered during the event, where Abdullah Al Buainain, Supervisor of Qatar Holy Quran Radio, shared his story. He discussed his early days in the media industry, key achievements in his career, and the hurdles he encountered. Buainain stressed that media expertise is not solely based on natural ability but requires a mix of training, practice, and skill refinement.

He highlighted the importance of reading, self-education, understanding text, and having knowledge in the subject matter for media professionals, alongside communication and presentation abilities. Al Buainain also underscored the significance of maintaining ethical standards, integrity, credibility, and professionalism in media work.

He advised verifying information and its sources before disseminating it, considering the impact of the content before publication, and evaluating its potential benefits versus potential harm to others. The Supervisor concluded by demonstrating the use of equipment and technologies in the radio studio and explaining the process of preparing, coordinating, and compiling media content.

The meeting was organized as part of the center's dedication to providing programs and events that help members improve their skills, boost their presence in various sectors, and encourage active participation in society.
