Police claim arrest of two over Karachi teen’s murder as family’s sit-in continues

KARACHI: Police announced on Saturday the arrest of two individuals suspected of involvement in a home invasion that culminated in the murder of a 16-year-old boy named Rosham Husain in Manghopir. The tragic event prompted a significant protest by Rosham’s kin and community members, who maintained a sit-in outside the Manghopir police station throughout the day on Saturday.

According to West SSP Tariq Illahi Mastoi, the apprehended suspects, identified as Dilawar (Tariq) and Muhammad Rizwan (Asif), were linked to numerous house robberies in the region. Police recovered counterfeit police uniforms from them during the arrest. One of the robbery victims recognized the suspects, as reported by the SSP.

On September 8th, Rosham was fatally shot during a house robbery in Mehran City, Manghopir. The arrested men are currently under interrogation regarding the Rosham Husain murder case. The suspects have been transferred to the Special Investigation Unit for further investigation. Rosham’s father, Roidad Husain, was formally notified of the arrests and the ongoing probe.

His uncle, speaking to Dawn, expressed that while they were informed of the arrests, they had not yet decided to discontinue the sit-in. The family’s decision to maintain the protest was contingent on a formal announcement from them. Until such a call-off is declared, the sit-in will persist.
