Pak's Hangor-class sub holds first live weapon firing

Pakistan Navy's inaugural Hangor-class submarine successfully executed its maiden live weapon firing in the Arabian Sea, according to the army. Constructed in China under a mutual agreement, the submarine arrived in Karachi in June. The army hailed the firing drill as a significant display of operational readiness, stating that the PNS/M HANGOR precisely targeted a designated long-range objective with an anti-ship cruise missile.

Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, present at the event, commended the submarine's combat power and stressed the strategic significance of bolstering subsurface capabilities for effective maritime deterrence. The accomplishment highlights the Pakistan Navy's dedication to maintaining a modern, combat-ready force to protect national maritime frontiers and regional stability, as reported by Inter-Services Public Relations.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his congratulations to the Pakistan Navy and its command for the submarine's first live weapons firing, emphasizing the government's commitment to ensuring the armed forces' preparedness to address national security challenges. The navy is scheduled to commission an additional eight Hangor-class submarines, each armed with advanced combat systems, cutting-edge sensors, Air Independent Propulsion technology, and heightened stealth capabilities.
