Pakistan Finance Minister's US Exim talks covered financing for Boeing aircraft, adviser says

In Islamabad on September 27, Pakistan's Finance Minister explored potential US Export-Import Bank financing for Boeing aircraft, refinery upgrades, and the Reko Diq copper and gold mining project, according to his adviser Khurram Schehzad. The adviser informed that the government was facilitating PIA's access to financing and suppliers, but did not mention any aircraft purchases or sovereign guarantees.

The US EXIM could secure financing based on the aircraft's and the lessee's creditworthiness, meaning a sovereign guarantee would not be automatic.
